casado

married

adjective kah-SAH-doh Less Common

Usage Note

Casado is used with estar, not ser: está casado (he is married) describes a current state, not a permanent characteristic. The feminine form is casada. Recién casados is the standard phrase for 'newlyweds'. Contrast with soltero (single) and divorciado (divorced).

Examples

"Mi hermano está casado con una arquitecta."

Natural Translation

My brother is married to an architect.
