Usage Note
Regalo is the standard word for a present or gift. The verb regalar means 'to give as a gift', and regalarse can mean to treat oneself. Note that in some Latin American varieties, especially Mexico, regalo can also mean a bargain or a windfall: ¡Está regalado! means 'It's a steal!' (very cheap).
Examples
"Le hice un regalo de cumpleaños."
Natural Translation
I gave her a birthday gift.
