Usage Note
Maldición covers both a supernatural curse placed on someone and the act of cursing or swearing aloud — context distinguishes the two. The plural maldiciones is regular. Its counterpart is bendición (blessing). As an exclamation, ¡maldición! functions like 'damn it!' in informal speech.
Examples
"Creyó que una maldición caía sobre su familia."
Natural Translation
He believed a curse was falling on his family.
