Usage Note
Malayo refers to the Malay people, language, or anything from Malaysia or the broader Malay world. As a noun it names the language (habla malayo — she speaks Malay) or a person (un malayo). The feminine form is malaya and the nationality adjective is sometimes expanded to malasio/a specifically when referring to a Malaysian citizen.
