Exaltación can describe an intense emotional state of elation or excitement, or the act of glorifying and elevating someone to high honor (la exaltación de un santo, the glorification of a saint). In a religious context, La Exaltación de la Santa Cruz is a feast day. When describing a mental state, it can also carry the negative sense of feverish agitation or overexcitement. The related verb is exaltar.
