Usage Note
Exagerar is a regular -ar verb. The common rebuke ¡no exageres! (don't exaggerate!) is one of the most frequent uses. Sin exagerar (without exaggerating) is a fixed phrase used to emphasise that something is literally true.

"Siempre exagera cuando cuenta sus aventuras."
Natural Translation
He always exaggerates when he recounts his adventures.
