Aburrido is a classic ser/estar adjective with different meanings depending on the verb: es aburrido means 'he/it is boring' (a permanent trait), while está aburrido means 'he is bored' (a current state). Using the wrong verb is one of the most common learner mistakes with this word. The ser-sense opposite is divertido or entretenido ('fun', 'entertaining').
