Descansillo is a Spain-specific term for the flat platform between flights of stairs (a stair landing). In Latin America rellano or descanso are preferred, and descansillo may not be understood. It is the diminutive of descanso (rest), reflecting the idea of a resting place on the way up. It is architecture and home vocabulary.
