Usage Note
Aislante functions both as an adjective (material aislante = insulating material) and as a noun (un aislante = an insulator). As a present participle form of aislar it is invariable for gender but adds -s in the plural (aislantes). It is used in electrical, thermal, and acoustic contexts (aislante térmico, aislante acústico).
