Usage Note
Afectivo describes what relates to feelings, emotional bonds, or the affective dimension of a person. In psychology and education it is a technical term: inteligencia afectiva, desarrollo afectivo. A false friend caution: 'affective' in English can seem overly clinical, whereas in Spanish afectivo is warm and positive — un gesto muy afectivo means a very affectionate gesture.
Examples
"El niño tiene un vínculo afectivo muy fuerte con su abuela."
Natural Translation
The child has a very strong emotional bond with his grandmother.
