Vicio covers both a moral vice (e.g. gambling, drinking) and a milder bad habit like biting one's nails. In colloquial Spain, estar de vicio means something is wonderful or delicious (la comida está de vicio). Its adjective vicioso means depraved (given to vice) and, colloquially, hooked or addicted.
