tampoco

neither

adverb tahm-POH-koh Less Common

Also means

not either

Usage Note

Tampoco is the negative counterpart to también ('also'). It follows Spanish's double-negative pattern: yo tampoco = 'me neither', but when it follows a negative verb it still requires no extra no: no quiero ir — yo tampoco or yo tampoco quiero ir. Do not confuse with también, which is its affirmative pair. Stressed differently from tan poco ('so little').

Examples

"Ella no vino y yo tampoco."

Natural Translation

She didn't come and neither did I.

Literal Translation

She not came and I neither
