nada

nothing

pronoun NAH-dah Common

Also means

at all (intensifier)

Usage Note

Nada requires a double negative when it follows the verb: No vi nada (not Vi nada). Used before an adjective with de, it intensifies the negation: nada de interesante ('nothing interesting', lit. 'nothing of interesting'). It can also function as an adverb meaning 'not at all': No me gusta nada.

Examples

"No hay nada en la nevera."

Natural Translation

There is nothing in the fridge.
