nadie

nobody

pronoun NAH-dyeh Common

Usage Note

Nadie is invariable (no gender or number changes) and always refers to people, not things (use nada for 'nothing'). Like nada, it requires a double negative when it follows the verb: No vino nadie ('Nobody came'). It pairs naturally with ninguno but where ninguno modifies or replaces a noun, nadie stands alone as an indefinite person.

Examples

"Nadie sabe la respuesta correcta."

Natural Translation

Nobody knows the correct answer.
