Supervisar is a direct Latin-influenced term used in professional and administrative contexts. The noun counterpart is supervisión (f) and the person doing it is a supervisor/supervisora. In Spain it is equally common to say vigilar or controlar for lighter oversight; supervisar carries a more formal, managerial register.
