Usage Note

Subdirector follows the same pattern as subteniente, subjefe, etc. — the prefix sub- marks a rank directly below the named position. The feminine form is subdirectora. In media and corporate contexts subdirector is a real job title; in a school it often corresponds to 'deputy head'. The plural is subdirectores (m) or subdirectoras (f).
