Origin: From Latin agricultor, from ager ('field') + cultor ('cultivator').

Usage Note

Agricultor specifically means someone who works the land professionally, distinct from campesino (which has broader rural/peasant connotations and can be pejorative in some contexts). The feminine is agricultora. In Spain, the sector is covered by the ministry Ministerio de Agricultura.
