Also means
single man, unmarried person
Usage Note
Soltero is both noun ('a bachelor') and adjective ('unmarried'). The feminine form soltera is equally common. Unlike English 'bachelor', it carries no positive or negative connotation on its own — it is a neutral civil-status term. Soltero de oro jokingly refers to an eligible bachelor.
Examples
"Mi hermano sigue soltero a los cuarenta."
Natural Translation
My brother is still single at forty.
