Usage Note
Sollozar is an orthographic-changing verb: the z becomes c before e, so the first-person preterite is sollocé and the present-subjunctive stem is solloce-. It describes the involuntary gasping quality of sobbing rather than mere weeping (llorar). The related noun is sollozo ('sob').
Examples
"El niño sollozó toda la noche."
Natural Translation
The boy sobbed all night.
