Simple is invariable in gender (un diseño simple, una respuesta simple). It can mean 'uncomplicated' (positive) or 'simplistic/dull' (mildly negative) depending on context. In grammar, tiempo simple contrasts with tiempo compuesto (compound tense). The adverb is simplemente; the noun simplicidad.
