Usage Note
Absurdo can function as an adjective (una idea absurda) or as a masculine noun (eso es un absurdo, that is an absurdity). In theatre, el teatro del absurdo (theatre of the absurd) is a recognised genre. It is stronger than ridículo (ridiculous) and implies logical impossibility or fundamental nonsense rather than merely laughable behaviour.
