Usage Note

Reformar covers both political/institutional reform (reformar la ley, to reform the law) and the very everyday task of renovating a house or flat (reformar el baño, to renovate the bathroom). In Spain the second sense is extremely common in property listings and conversation. The noun reforma is used for both 'reform' and 'renovation/remodelling.'
