Usage Note
Prometir is a non-standard form; the accepted standard verb is prometer (second conjugation, regular). Prometir is occasionally heard in some regional or dialectal speech but is not recognized by the RAE and should be avoided in formal or written Spanish. Learners should use prometer: te prometo que vuelvo ('I promise you I'll be back').

He promised you he would call tomorrow.
