aclarar

to clarify

verb ah-klah-RAHR Less Common

Also means

to clear up

Usage Note

Aclarar can mean to clarify a statement (aclarar una duda, to clear up a doubt), to rinse something (aclarar el pelo, to rinse one's hair), or to brighten (el cielo se aclara, the sky is clearing). The reflexive aclararse means 'to get clear' or colloquially 'to sort oneself out'. The -zar ending in similar verbs does NOT apply here — aclarar is a regular -ar verb.
