Usage Note

Procurador in the Spanish legal system is a licensed court representative (procurador de los tribunales) who formally files documents and represents parties before courts — distinct from the abogado (lawyer) who argues the case. The feminine is procuradora. In historical contexts it also means a representative in older legislative bodies (e.g. the Francoist Cortes).
