Usage Note

Posicionar is used in business and marketing (posicionar una marca, 'to position a brand') and in political discourse (posicionarse ante un tema, 'to take a stance on an issue'). The reflexive posicionarse is especially common: it means 'to take a position' or 'to stand on' a question. Avoid confusing with colocar (to physically place) — posicionar is almost always figurative or strategic.
