Usage Note
Ocupación covers both a person's job or trade (¿cuál es su ocupación?) and the act of occupying a space or territory (la ocupación de un edificio). The verb is ocupar and the adjective ocupado means busy or engaged. A common false friend: English 'occupation' in a survey form asking for your job is profesión or oficio in more natural Spanish.
Examples
"Su ocupación principal es la enseñanza."
Natural Translation
Her main occupation is teaching.
