Usage Note
Misterio covers a genuine puzzle (el misterio sin resolver, 'the unsolved mystery'), a religious mystery (los misterios del rosario, the mysteries of the rosary), and colloquial intrigue (no hay tanto misterio, 'it's not such a big deal / mystery'). The phrase hacerse el misterioso means to act mysterious or secretive.
