Usage Note

Meteorología refers both to the scientific study of the atmosphere and, in everyday speech, to a weather forecast or bulletin. A practitioner is a meteorólogo or meteoróloga. The word is often shortened colloquially to el tiempo when referring to a weather report on TV.
