Jugador is the agentive noun from jugar and refers to a sports or game player. The feminine is jugadora. The compound jugador de fútbol (football player) is more explicit than bare jugador, which context usually clarifies. In colloquial use, buen jugador can also describe someone who is strategically clever in social situations.
