Origin: From Latin invictus ('unconquered'), from in- (not) + vincere (to conquer).
Usage Note
Invicto is used almost exclusively in sports and military contexts: el equipo se mantiene invicto ('the team remains unbeaten'). It is more formal and literary than the everyday sin derrotas. The feminine is invicta. It does not apocopate.
