Hiriente derives from herir ('to wound') and describes words, comments, or attitudes that emotionally wound someone. It is stronger than ofensivo and carries a sense of deliberate sharpness — a comentario hiriente cuts deeper than a mere insult. The form is invariable for gender; only the plural hirientes changes.
