Gravitar is used in its literal physics sense (objects gravitate toward a mass) and in its figurative sense of bearing down on someone or something — una responsabilidad que gravita sobre todos (a responsibility that weighs on everyone). The figurative use is common in formal and journalistic Spanish. Do not use it as a calque of English 'to gravitate toward' meaning 'to be drawn to'; Spanish prefers sentirse atraído por in that context.
