Usage Note
Acetileno is the highly flammable hydrocarbon gas (C₂H₂) used in oxyacetylene welding and cutting. Its systematic IUPAC name in Spanish is etino, but acetileno remains the overwhelmingly preferred term in industry and everyday technical language. Store and handle it as a compressed gas — cylinders must be kept upright.
