Usage Note
Envidiar is a regular -ar verb (envidio, envidias…). It takes a direct object: te envidio ('I envy you'). The related noun is envidia ('envy/jealousy') and the adjective envidioso ('envious'). Note that envidiar focuses on desiring what another has, while celos (tener celos) covers jealousy in the relational/romantic sense.
