Usage Note

Empleada is the feminine form of empleado (employee). In many Latin American countries it commonly refers specifically to a domestic worker or housekeeper — empleada doméstica or simply la empleada. In Spain the neutral term trabajadora del hogar is increasingly preferred in formal contexts.
