Usage Note

Emocionado describes the feeling of being emotionally stirred or excited, and is NOT a false friend: the English 'emotional' translates better as emocional (a permanent trait) while emocionado is a temporary state, used with estar. The feminine form is emocionada. A learner excited about a trip would say Estoy emocionado, not Estoy emocionante (which means 'thrilling', describing a thing).
