Usage Note
Derrumbar means to bring a structure down, either by deliberate demolition or sudden collapse. The reflexive derrumbarse is especially common for spontaneous collapse: el edificio se derrumbó. Figuratively it means to collapse emotionally: se derrumbó al escuchar la noticia.
