Usage Note
Cuál (with accent) is the interrogative pronoun asking 'which one?' or, in a choice context, 'what?': ¿Cuál es tu nombre? ('What is your name?' — preferred over ¿Qué es tu nombre? in most dialects). The plural is cuáles. Before a noun, Spanish uses qué rather than cuál: ¿Qué libro prefieres? ('Which book do you prefer?'), not ¿Cuál libro?.
