Usage Note

Cualidad refers to an inherent quality or characteristic of a person or thing (sus mejores cualidades = 'her best qualities'). It differs from calidad ('quality' in the sense of standard or grade, as in productos de calidad). The two words are easy to confuse; cualidad is about traits, calidad is about level of excellence.
