Usage Note

Convicción refers to a strong personal belief or principle (hablar con convicción, to speak with conviction), not a criminal conviction — that is condena. The plural convicciones often appears in political or ethical discourse (mis convicciones morales). Do not confuse with convicto (convicted person).
