Usage Note

Conseguir is an -i stem-changing verb (consigo, consigues…). It conveys successfully obtaining or achieving something: consiguió el trabajo (he got the job). With a following infinitive it means 'to manage to': no consiguió abrir la puerta (he couldn't manage to open the door). It is stronger than obtener in implying effort or persistence.
