Usage Note
Barbero specifically refers to a barber — someone who cuts hair and shaves beards — as distinct from a peluquero (hairdresser/stylist). The feminine barbera exists but is rare; the profession has historically been male-dominated. In some Latin American regions barbero can also carry the informal sense of a flatterer or sycophant.
Examples
"El barbero me cortó el cabello en diez minutos."
