aversión

aversion

noun ah-behr-SYOHN Rare

Usage Note

Aversión denotes a strong, often instinctive dislike or repugnance, stronger than mere antipatía. It is typically followed by the preposition aaversión al riesgo ('risk aversion'). The plural aversiones is regular but the singular accent on the final syllable shifts in the plural: aversión -> aversiones (no accent needed on plurals ending in -es after -ión).

Examples

"Tiene una fuerte aversión al ruido."

Natural Translation

She has a strong aversion to noise.
