Usage Note
Aprecio expresses positive regard or high valuation for a person or thing (tener aprecio a alguien = to hold someone in esteem). It is less intense than amor and warmer than mere respeto. The verb apreciar covers both 'to appreciate' (value) and 'to notice/perceive' (apreciar una diferencia = to notice a difference), so context matters when translating back into English.
