alguno

some; any

determiner ahl-GOO-noh Common

Usage Note

Alguno apocopates to algún before a masculine singular noun: algún día 'some day', alguna vez 'ever / at some point'. Placed after the noun, it becomes a strong negative: sin motivo alguno 'without any reason whatsoever', equivalent to ningún motivo. The plural algunos/algunas simply means 'some' or 'a few'. Do not confuse with alguien 'someone', which refers only to people.

Examples

"Algún día visitaré Japón."

Natural Translation

Some day I will visit Japan.

Literal Translation

Some day I-will-visit Japan
