Aislamiento covers social isolation (aislamiento social), political isolation (aislamiento diplomático), and physical insulation (aislamiento térmico, 'thermal insulation'; aislamiento acústico, 'soundproofing'). The verb is aislar and the adjective aislado. A false-friend trap: English 'isolation' in a lab or quarantine context is best rendered as aislamiento or cuarentena, not isolación (which is not standard Spanish).
