Usage Note
Venidero is a literary or formal synonym for futuro (future) and próximo (upcoming). It derives from venir (to come) and means 'yet to come.' It appears most often in the plural: en los años venideros (in the years to come), las generaciones venideras (future generations). In everyday spoken Spanish futuro or próximo is far more common; venidero marks a formal or elevated register.
