Usage Note

Transparencia is used both literally (the optical property of being see-through: la transparencia del cristal) and figuratively in politics and business to mean openness and accountability (transparencia institucional, ley de transparencia). It has become a political buzzword in Spanish public life. The adjective is transparente.
