Techo means the ceiling inside a room and the roof of a building — context distinguishes them, though tejado or cubierta can be used specifically for a sloped exterior roof. In some Latin American varieties techo is preferred over tejado in all contexts. The metaphorical techo de cristal ('glass ceiling') is widely understood.
